Plumbing Installation
Plumbing installation is a product of Newlands Building Project.
Fixtures and Appliance plumbing points:
- Sinks: Used for washing hands, dishes, and food.
- Faucets: Control the flow of water from the supply pipes to sinks, showers, and tubs.
- Toilets: Dispose of waste by flushing water through a drainage system.
- Showers: Used for bathing and equipped with a showerhead and controls for temperature and water flow.
- Bathtubs: Provide a space for bathing and relaxing.
- Dishwashers: Automatically wash dishes using water and detergent.
- Washing Machines: Clean clothes by agitating them in water with detergent.
- Water Heaters: Heat water for domestic use, typically using electricity, gas, or solar power.
- Water Softeners: Remove minerals from water to prevent scale buildup in pipes and appliances.
- Sump Pumps: Remove excess water from basements or crawl spaces to prevent flooding.
Pipes and Fittings:
- Supply Pipes: Carry water from the main supply line to fixtures and appliances.
- Distribution Pipes: Branch off from supply pipes to deliver water to various areas of the building.
- Fittings: Connect pipes together and change direction, including elbows, tees, couplings, and adapters.
- Valves: Control the flow of water, including ball valves, gate valves, and check valves.
Water Supply System:
- Main Water Supply Line: The main pipe that brings water from the municipal water supply or well into the building.
- Water Meter: Measures the amount of water consumed for billing purposes.
- Shut-off Valve: Allows for the isolation of the water supply to the entire building or specific sections.
- Pressure Regulator: Controls the water pressure to ensure it's at a safe and consistent level.
- Backflow Preventer: Prevents contaminated water from flowing back into the main water supply.
Drainage System:
- Drain Pipes: Carry wastewater away from fixtures and appliances to the main sewer line or septic tank.
- Traps: Prevent sewer gases from entering the building by trapping water in a U-shaped bend.
- Vent Pipes: Allow air to enter the drainage system to prevent suction and ensure proper drainage flow.
- Cleanouts: Access points in the drainage system for inspecting and clearing blockages.
Ventilation System:
- Vent Pipes: Connect to drain pipes and extend through the roof to allow sewer gases to escape safely.
- Vent Stacks: Vertical vent pipes that provide venting for multiple fixtures on different floors.
